PRE APPOINTMENT INFO

Please come to your appointment bare faced/makeup free

If you are prone to cold sores or have ever had one, it is best to take an antiviral medication the day before the treatment.

If you take fish oil supplements, please stop taking it 7 days prior to treatment.

If you are anxious, you may want to bring headphones to help you relax.

Please avoid heavy sun exposure prior to your treatment.

Please discontinue taking blood thinner medication if safe to do so, 24 hours before your appointment.

Please avoid using skincare products containing retinol, vitamin A, C & E, 7 days before your treatment.

No alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen or aspirin for at least 24 hours before the treatment.

No cosmetic injections, microdermabrasion, or facials for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment.

AFTER CARE INFO

Your lips will be sore, swollen and highly pigmented. This is completely normal and will settle and fade in the coming days.

No picking, pulling or scratching at the treated area.

After 7 days, your lips should be fully healed. Please allow the colour to further develop over the next 7 days.

Healing time will vary from person to person.

No make-up, skin treatments or creams on the area for 2 weeks.

As your lips begin to heal they may form small scabs, once these are healed, your lips will be 40-60% lighter than day 1.

Be mindful of skin care containing retinol, Vit A, C & E for 14 days after your treatment.

Fall out will happen & this is completely normal.

Avoid hot tea, coffee or hot drinks for the first 48 hours.

Minimise spicy, salty or extra hot foods.

Apply aftercare to your lips regularly to keep the treated area hydrated.

Attend your 6-8 week touch up appointment.

Mild swelling can occur within the first 24 hours. If swelling appears, apply ice packs as soon as you return home. From days 2–3, your lips may appear darker, dry, and flaky—this is a normal part of healing. Apply the aftercare balm provided daily until all flakes have naturally shed. Do not pull or pick at the skin, as this can cause permanent damage and scarring.

A touch up is usually required 4–6 weeks after your initial appointment to address any pigment that did not retain. The inner lip area often requires extra attention as it is a moist environment, and the lip line may heal more prominently before softening over the following weeks.

If you have ever experienced cold sores, you are a carrier of the virus. We recommend taking a cold sore prevention medication before your procedure to reduce the risk of an outbreak. Tattooing can trigger the virus, and an outbreak may affect your healed results during the first session. Any patchiness caused by a cold sore can be corrected at your 4–6 week touch up, though additional sessions may sometimes be required at the client’s cost, as skin retention varies.
